Edouard Righetti :
Born July 14, 1924 in Menton (Alpes-Maritimes). Died in Paris in December 2001. 20th century. French.
Engraver, painter and draftsman of compositions with characters, figures, landscapes, urban landscapes, seascapes, interiors, still lifes, animals, flowers.
Édouard Righetti began by taking courses at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier. He then continued his training at the School of Decorative Arts in Nice. In 1949, he met the engraver Edouard Goerg and was admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in his studio until 1954. There he learned to work with copper, aquatint, etching. at the waist, the drypoint. In 1953 he made a trip to Rome, Florence and Pisa. In 1956 he obtained a two-year scholarship to Casa Velasquez (Madrid). He participates in group exhibitions, among which: 1953, 40,000 years of Modern Art, Paris; 1958,1959, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, Salon Le Trait; 1959, Galerie Greuze, Paris; 1964, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Tours, as well as at the Salon Pointe et Burin and at the Biennale de Paris. Part of the Ecole De Paris The term "School of Paris" was used in 1925 by André Warnod (fr) to refer to the many foreign-born artists who had migrated to Paris.
School of Paris artists were progressively marginalized. Beginning in 1935 art publications no longer wrote about Marc Chagall, just magazines for Jewish audiences, and by June 1940 when the Vichy government took power, School of Paris artists could no longer exhibit in Paris at all.
The artists working in Paris between World War I and World War II experimented with various styles including Cubism, Orphism, Surrealism and Dada. Foreign and French artists working in Paris included Jean Arp, Joan Miró, Constantin Brâncuși, Raoul Dufy, Tsuguharu Foujita, artists from Belarus like Michel Kikoine, Pinchus Kremegne, and Jacques Lipchitz, the Polish artist Marek Szwarc and others such as Russian-born prince Alexis Arapoff. A significant subset, the Jewish artists, came to be known as the Jewish School of Paris or the School of Montparnasse. The "core members were almost all Jews, and the resentment expressed toward them by French critics in the 1930s was unquestionably fueled by anti-Semitism." One account points to the 1924 Salon des Indépendants, which decided to separate the works of French-born artists from those by immigrants; in response critic Roger Allard (fr) referred to them as the School of Paris. Jewish members of the group included Emmanuel Mané-Katz, Chaim Soutine, Adolphe Féder, Chagall, Moïse Kisling, Maxa Nordau...

About Artist
Janet Adenike Adebayo (b. 1997) is a self-taught Nigerian artist, born in Lagos and based in Lagos as an artist. She began her journey as a painter in 2017. She refers to herself as a “confessional” artist, as her art is an expression of intimate moments and openness of truths and feelings others may be otherwise shy to confront. Adebayo expresses herself using acrylic and mixed media on canvas, employing techniques such as her signature “mosaic skin” tones, fusing a collage of colors to create humanoid figures, made obvious by exaggerated features.
